Adaptive parallel-cascade truncated Volterra filters
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper studies adaptive truncated Volterra filters employing parallel-cascade structures. Parallel-cascade realiza tions implement higher order Volterra systems as a parallel con nection of multiplicative combinations of lower order truncated Volterra systems. A normalized LMS adaptive filter is developed, and its performance capabilities are evaluated using a series of simulation experiments. The experimental results indicate that the normalized LMS adaptive parallel-cascade Volterra filter has superior convergence properties over several competing struc tures. This paper also includes an experiment that demonstrates the capability of the parallel-cascade adaptive system to reduce its implementation complexity by using fewer than the maximum number of branches required for the most general realization of the system.

متن کاملParallel-cascade realizations and approximations of truncated Volterra systems
This paper introduces parallel-cascade realizations of truncated Volterra systems with arbitrary, but finite order of nonlinearity. Parallel-cascade realizations implement higher-order Volterra systems using parallel and multiplicative combinations of lower-order Volterra systems. Such realizations are very modular and therefore well-suited for VLSI implementation. A systematic way of approxima...
متن کاملAdaptive Line Enhancement Using a Parallel IIR Filter with A Step-By-step Algorithm
A step-by-step algorithm for enhancement of periodic signals that are highly corrupted by additive uncorrelated white gausian noise is proposed. In each adaptation step a new parallel second-order section is added to the previous filters. Every section has only one adjustable parameter, i.e., the center frequency of the self-tuning filter. The bandwidth and the convergence factor of each secti...
متن کاملUtilizing Kernel Adaptive Filters for Speech Enhancement within the ALE Framework
Performance of the linear models, widely used within the framework of adaptive line enhancement (ALE), deteriorates dramatically in the presence of non-Gaussian noises. On the other hand, adaptive implementation of nonlinear models, e.g. the Volterra filters, suffers from the severe problems of large number of parameters and slow convergence. Nonetheless, kernel methods are emerging solutions t...
